INCORRECT -
SUSPECT #3: VIC TOLLAND

Cole's Verdict: Vic wasn't our thief this time.

I'll be honest, Vic Tolland was on my list too when I first walked into that hallway. A pawn shop owner with no alibi and a witness who spotted someone matching his description near the parking lot? That's worth a hard look.

But here's the problem: a championship trophy is one of the hardest things to move quietly. It's engraved. It's recognizable. Every basketball family in Cedar Falls would know that trophy, and it was stolen. Vic's been around long enough to know that. He buys things he can sell. A trophy with Cedar Falls Falcons engraved on the plate isn't exactly easy to move without someone noticing.

More importantly, how did our person get inside that building? No broken glass. No forced entry. The lock was clean. Vic Tolland has no connection to Cedar Falls High School. No key. No code. No way in.

Go back to Clue 3 and Clue 4. Think about what it takes to enter a building after hours and know exactly how to clean up from the inside. That's not a stranger. That's someone who belongs there.
