SUSPECT #2: HAROLD DENNY
Cole's Verdict: Harold didn't do it.
Okay, I get it. Harold had a grudge. He got passed over for a promotion he deserved, and the person who made that call was Principal Davies. That's real motive. And Harold knows every inch of that building after nineteen years. The building master key sits on his belt every single day.
But here's what you missed: Harold's neighbor put his truck in the driveway at 5:15 p.m. The rear entrance log shows someone entered at 7:02 p.m. That's almost two hours later. His neighbor had no reason to lie.
More importantly, Harold uses the building master key, which opens every door in the school. The trophy case was opened with the trophy case key. Those are two different keys. Harold doesn't have the trophy case key. Only three people do.
Go back to Clue 1 and read it again. Slowly this time. The answer is sitting right there in the list of three names.
