SUSPECT #1: COACH RAY BRIGGS
Cole's Verdict: Not our guy.
Briggs had motive, no question. Eleven years of watching the basketball program get the headlines, the budget, and the front hallway trophy case while his football banners collected dust in a storage closet? That kind of frustration builds up. And Principal Davies dismissing his formal complaint two weeks before a basketball trophy was about to be permanently mounted? That's the kind of thing that makes a man do something stupid.
But here's where it falls apart.
Briggs badged into the athletic wing at 6:48 p.m. Wednesday, that's confirmed by the key fob log. The rear entrance entry happened at 7:02 p.m. The athletic wing and the rear entrance are on opposite sides of the building. Fourteen minutes is tight. Too tight, especially since the security camera in the east corridor shows no one moving between those two locations during that window.
More importantly, Briggs doesn't have a key to the trophy case. His key fob gives him access to the athletic wing, the weight room, and the field house. The trophy case in the main hallway requires a completely separate key. Only three people in this building have that key.
Go back to Clue 1. Read the list of three names again, slowly this time. One of them doesn't have a clean alibi. That's your person.
